- Period : 61 Class: 5A,5B,5C WEEK 16 Monday, December 18th 2023 UNIT 10: WHEN WILL SPORTS DAY BE? Lesson 1 (4.5.6) I. Objectives: - By the end of the lesson Ps will be able to: 1. Knowledge: + use the words and phrases related to the topics school events and future activities + ask and answer questions about school events. 2. Skills. - Reading, writing and speaking. 3. Attitude/ Quality: - Have concentration, listen carefully, express idea during lesson - Confident in communicating with classmates - To help Ss loving English, love animals. 4. Forming competence: - Easy to get to know, easy to make friends - Can perform individual tasks and solve a problem themselves - Use language to talk about animals by English. II. Methods: - Communicative approach, group Ss and T's activities, play as a character, III. Preparation. 1. Teacher’s preparation: CDs player, stereo, book. 2. Student’s preparation: Students’ aids: books, notebooks, workbooks. IV. Procedures. *. Warm up: Matching A B Teachers’day March 8th Children’s day January 1st Independence day November 20th Women’s day September 2nd New Year June 1st *. New lesson: 1. Listen and match. - Have sts to look at the pictures (Part 4) given with 3 activities and 3 days - Give instruction - Play the recording twice for pupils listen and match the activities with the days - Ask sts to compare the answers with the partner. - Play the recording again for sts to check their answers.
- - Announce the answers. - Ask some questions to ensure sts’ comprehension of the listening text. *Key: 1 – c; 2 – a; 3 – b 2. Read and match. - Tell sts that they are going to 5 questions and 5 answers in 2 columns given. - Give sts few seconds to read them in silence. - Check comprehension and give feedback. - Give sts time to do the task and go around and offer help if necessary - Get sts to work in pairs to swap their work and check their answers before checking. * Key: 1. b 2. c 3. e 4. a 5. d - Divide the class into two groups and get them to read aloud the dialogue 3. Let’s sing. - Show the song “When will sports Day be?” - Have sts look at the pictures and give some ideas - Read the lyrics. - Check comprehension - Play the recording the song all the way through. - Have sts repeat each line of the lyrics a few times. - Have sts sing along. - Have sts practice singing and acting in groups - Call some groups sing aloud and do actions III. Reinforcement. - Practice reading the questions and answers in part 2 - Do Ex C in WB. - Give feedback. Period : 62 Class: 5A,5B,5C Monday, December 18th 2023 UNIT 10: WHEN WILL SPORTS DAY BE? Lesson 2 (1.2.3) I.Objectives: - By the end of the lesson Ps will be able to: + ask and answer questions about what someone is going to do/ play on Sports day 1. Skills. - Develop Ss speaking and listening skills 2. Attitude/ Quality: - Should love and protect animals for many reasons. - Show Ss other kinds of zoos and ways to protect animals. 3. Forming competence: - Prepare their own school things - Easy to get to know, easy to make friends, ready to help their friends.
- - Apply what they have learned to solve learning tasks II. Methods: - Communicative approach, group Ss and T's activities, play as a character. III. Preparation. 1.Teacher’s preparation: CDs player, stereo, book. 2. Student’s preparation: Students’ aids: books, notebooks, workbooks. IV. Procedures. * Warm up: Sing the song “When will sports Day be?” 1. Look, listen and repeat: - Set the scene: - Elicit the context of the picture - Have sts look at the pictures and guess what the story is about - Check comprehension by pointing at each picture to elicit the content for each picture - Play CD for sts listen and follow in their books - Play again – sts repeat - Some Ss role play and the others comment. - Ask Ss to role play - Ask Ss to role play before the class. => Elicit the modal sentences: What are you going to do on Sports Day? I’m going to .. 2. Point and say: - Have pupils look at pictures with activities - Run through the names of activities - Model (a) A: What are you going to do on Sports Day? B: I’m going to play basketball. - Have sts to repeat the sentences a few times. - Ask sts work in pairs to practice asking and answering base on the model. - Call some pairs say aloud in front of the class. - Check sts’ mistake when necessary. - Make a few questions to check pupils’ comprehension of the language. - Have the whole class repeat all the phrases in chorus to reinforce their pronunciation. 3. Let’s talk. - Have stst read aloud 2 questions given - Tell the class that they are going to practice further by asking and answering questions relate to festivals and activities - Run through. - Give instruction. - Model: A: When will sports day be? Reinforcement - Ask sts to talk aloud their task Period : 63 Class: 5A, 5B, 5C Tuesday, December 19th 2023 UNIT 10: WHEN WILL SPORTS DAY BE? Lesson 2 (4.5.6) I. Objectives: - By the end of the lesson Ps will be able to: 1. Knowledge: + ask and answer questions about what someone is going to do/ play on Sports day 2. Skills. - Develop Ss’ writing, reading, speaking and listening skills 3. Attitude/ Quality: - Should love and protect animals for many reasons. - Show Ss other kinds of zoos and ways to protect animals. 4. Forming competence: - Prepare their own school things - Easy to get to know, easy to make friends, ready to help their friends. - Apply what they have learned to solve learning tasks II. Listen and underline the stressed words. Then say the sentences aloud. - Have pupils look at questions and answer given - Tell sts that they are going to listen and underline the stressed words - Play CD – sts listen and underline - Get sts’ answer - Give feedback * Key: 1. When will Sporrts Day be? It’ll be on Sunday. 2. What are you going to do on Sports Day? I’m going to play table tennis. 3. Let’s chant. - Show the chant “What are they going to do?”
- - Have sts run through the sentences - Ask sts read aloud - Check comprehension (When? What sports? How are they practice?) - Play the tape a few times. - Ask sts to read aloud each line in the chant and clap their hands. - Ask them to listen again and repeat. - Have sts practice the chant in groups. - Call each group perform. - Correct and comment - Play the tape once to reinforce their pronunciation. III. Reinforcement . - In this lesson, sts have learned how to make and read sentence stress in the right way - Practice chanting. - Do ex D in work book. ****************************************************************
