- Period : 65 Class: 5A,5B,5C WEEK 17 Monday, December 25th 2023 UNIT 10: WHEN WILL SPORTS DAY BE? Lesson 3(P2) A. Aim: - By the end of the lesson Ps will be able to: + further practice reading and writing about sport day. * Skills: - Develop Ss reading and writing and drawing skills * Language focus: - Revise from L1 + L2 * Teaching aids: Pictures, poster, cassette (overhead, computer) B. Procedure: I. Warm up: Reading the chant “What are you reading?” II. New lesson: 1. Read and tick: - Show picture about Tom with the passage and elicit the content - Give instruction. - Elicit: Who are they? What sports? - Ask sts to read the text to get information - Have sts read the sentences given below to compare with the information in the text to tick what each person is going to play. - Have sts do the task individually - Monitor the activity and offer help when necessary. - Ask sts to work in pairs to check the answer - Call on some sts to report their answers. * Key: Mai: table tennis; Nam: football; Phong: football Linda: table tennis; Tony: basketball; Peter: badminton;Tom: swimming 2. Write about Sports Day: - Have sts read the beginning phrases for sentences - Have them answer the following questions + When will sports day be? + What are you going to do?
- - Get some sts answer aloud - Checking understanding how to write - Have sts write in 10 mins - Remind sts how to write in correct way (capital letters, comma, full stop ) - Get sts swap and read their writing in pairs - Invite two or three sts to read their writing task - Get sts give feedback - Check and correct * Suggested answer: 3. Aims: By the end of the lesson, Ss will be able to - Review what they’ve learnt from Unit 6 to Unit 10. - Doing exercises - Reinforce listening, speaking, writing skills. * Resources: Books, subboard. B. Procedures: I. Vocabulary: Brainstorming - Get ss to play some games to review new words they’ve learnt.

Aims: By the end of the lesson, Ss will be able to - Review what they’ve learnt from Unit 6 to Unit 10. - Doing exercises (Review 2) - Reinforce listening, speaking, writing skills. * Resources: Books, subboard. B. Procedures: I. Doing exercises: - Have ss to open their book, page 70, 71. - Give instruction - Ask ss to do - Call ss to read their answer 1. Listen and tick: - Have sts look at 2 groups of pictures - Let them identify the subjects in1 and the characters in 2 - Play recording all the way through for sts listen and tick the correct pictures - Sts compare the work - Get sts’ answer - Give feedback and check 1. c 2. b 2. Read and listen to the story - Ask ss to listen to the story twice - Have ss to practice reading in pairs - Call some pairs to read - Comment 2. Answer the questions: - Ask ss to read the questions given - Read and answer - Call some pairs to read the questions and answers - Correct and give comment * Key: 1. They’re practicing for Mouse Sports Day. 2. He’s going to run a hundred metres. 3. She’s going to play badminton. 4. She’s going to play table tennis. 5. No, he isn’t. (He’s going to watch) 3.
